Leshies & Spectres, 2021-22. Glazed ceramic.

Working with folklorish characters for some years now, I have been envisaging them in forms that are distinctly my own. Informed by beliefs from Slavic pre-Christian folk religion, a Leshy is a mythical woodland spirit that protects its environment, whilst Spectres are materialisations of other types of phantasms. Together they form a vibrant ensemble of personages that appear to be either coming into being and disappearing from view.
