'Depth Wish', 2009. Animated film, 6 mins, 32 secs. Part of 'Sea Change' exhibition. Pace's mysterious and compelling underwater world featured in the animation ‘Depth Wish’, suggests a cautionary tale. The mer-creature seems to want to communicate, although ultimately gasps for life on dry land, as the film concludes. Also screened as part of 'Underwater' exhibition at Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne 2010.
Sea Change, solo exhibition, Berwick Gymnasium Art Gallery, 2009. Ambiguous, amphibian creatures are the eerie and fantastical protagonists of Kim L Pace’s unfolding narrative ‘Sea Change’ which includes drawings, objects and animated film.
Sea Change installation detail. Pace depicts a world in flux, where humans migrate into bizarre and amazing forms, inspired by Ovid’s ‘Metamorphoses’ and Mary Shelley’s ‘Transformation’, alongside myths, stories and superstitions associated with the sea.
