One Hundred Demons, 2026. Exhibition detail above, from the series of 100 works on paper, made from 2021-23. The One Hundred Demons exhibition includes an invented species of shadowy, speculative characters—after-images and spectral apparitions—that seem to form and dissolve. The works on paper and ceramic sculptures are part of Pace’s continuing exploration of our intangible, internal landscape that plays host to psychological entities such as the “shadow” and “inner demons”. Primarily concerned with the cognitive realm of mental impressions, illusions, or lingering thoughts that feel like “presences”, Pace is also fascinated by the concept of the demon across cultures.
